Behind Every Great Club

A Thank You to Our Sponsors and an Invitation

A heartfelt thank you to those who quietly support Glenalbyn Masters, and an open invitation to anyone who’d like to become part of our growing swimming community.
A Club Built on More Than Just Swimming

Behind every successful swimming club, there’s a quiet network of people, businesses, and supporters who help make it all possible. From the swimmers who turn up at 7am on a freezing Wednesday morning to the volunteers who organise our races, Glenalbyn Masters SC is built on the contributions of many.

But there’s another group we don’t often talk about, and that’s our sponsors. The businesses and individuals who, often quietly and without fanfare, support the club in ways that allow us to keep doing what we love. Today we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge them properly, and also extend a warm invitation to anyone who might be interested in joining their ranks.

A Quiet Thank You

We’re very lucky at Glenalbyn Masters to have a sponsor who has supported the club generously for some time now. They’ve asked to remain discreet, so we’re not going to put them on a billboard or splash their name across the website. That’s not their style, and we respect that completely.

But we couldn’t write a blog about sponsorship without saying a heartfelt thank you. Their support has helped us with everything from race day logistics to club resources, and they’ve done it all without ever asking for recognition in return. That’s the kind of support that really matters, and we’re genuinely grateful.

If you’re reading this and you know who you are, thank you. Truly. The club wouldn’t be what it is today without the quiet generosity of people like you.

The Friends Who Keep Us Going

Beyond our main sponsor, we’re also lucky to have warm friendships with a few local businesses who support the club in ways big and small. Café du Journal, just up the road, has been a long-time friendly face for our members. Whether it’s a post-swim coffee on a Wednesday morning or a sneaky slice of cake after a Saturday race, they’ve been part of our club’s social fabric for years. If you haven’t been in, treat yourself. You won’t regret it.

It’s the small, local, real-world relationships like these that make club life what it is. The cafe owners who know your order, the businesses who let us use their car park, the photographers who turn up to race day with a camera in hand. None of it ever appears on a balance sheet, but all of it matters enormously.

What Sponsorship Looks Like at Glenalbyn Masters

Sponsorship at our club isn’t about flashy logos or pressure-filled marketing. We’re a Masters swimming club run by volunteers, for the love of the sport and the community. We don’t have hundreds of thousands of TV viewers or major commercial deals. What we do have is a passionate group of swimmers who are deeply rooted in the South Dublin community, who attend races up and down the east coast, and who genuinely love supporting the businesses that support us.Sponsorship can take many forms:

  • Financial support that helps us run our home race at Seapoint, contribute to club expenses, or invest in equipment and resources
  • Product or service support such as discounts for our members, contributions to race day prizes, or in-kind support for events
  • Community partnerships where local businesses become a recognised friend of the club, with goodwill flowing both ways
  • Event partnerships specifically tied to our annual Glenalbyn Race or other club events.

We’re flexible, we’re friendly, and we’re always open to a chat about what might work for both sides. We’re particularly keen to build relationships with local businesses in the South Dublin area who share our values around community, inclusivity, and a love of the outdoors.

Why Partner with Glenalbyn Masters?

If you’re a business owner thinking about whether sponsorship might make sense for you, here’s a few honest reasons it’s worth considering:

  • Local visibility – our members are active in South Dublin and Wicklow, attend races and events, and shop locally
  • Authentic community connection – we’re not a faceless organisation. We’re real swimmers in real communities
  • Year-round engagement – unlike seasonal sponsorships, our club is active twelve months of the year
  • A growing audience – open water swimming is enjoying a real surge in popularity in Ireland
  • The feel-good factor – genuinely, supporting a community Masters club just feels good. You’re investing in friendship, fitness, and people who care about each other

We’re not here to sell you a sponsorship package out of a glossy brochure. We’d much rather have a coffee, hear about your business, and see if there’s something that genuinely works for both of us.

Get In Touch

In the meantime, to all our existing sponsors and friends, both named and unnamed, thank you. You make this club possible, and we don’t take that for granted.

Here’s to many more sunrise swims, post-race coffees, and great moments together. From everyone at Glenalbyn Masters, we appreciate you.
